I knew the basics about power point but i had no idea you could use it to create a game and all that. I think my game came out great, it's actually really fun making all the questions and adding the jeoprody sounds.
In my classroom, i would definitely use podcasts. When were reading a book I could make a pod cast of the study guide questions and answers. Also, instead of reading aloud to my students I could get the books on tape and play them so they can listen as they read along.
I learned way more about power point than i ever did before. I can really benefit from the skills because i can make a review game for my students and also power points on the material were studying. I think visuals always help the learning process.

An advantage of using presentation software is that it allows the teacher to present to all her studetns at once, rather than them having individual notes in front of them. Also, when using software you can incorporate pictures, powerpoints, and even movies. However, because the students don't have a hard copy in front of them, they might have to take notes to rememeber the information.
I think powerpoints are great ways to organize information. I can organize each slide as a different category. When disecting a poem and looking at tone, theme, characters, ect. it would be practical for me to create a powerpoint using a side for each of the poetic elements to help students understand the parts of a poem.
I hate that students at most school do not have access to youtube. Although youtube is mainly used for entertainment purposes, they do have education and informational videos that could be beneficial to students putting together a project or powerpoint.

I definitely support using the internet for research. However, in high school english classes, the internet is rarely used for research, except when writing a research paper, students can use library websites to browse critical essays for support.
I'll definitely use internet resources because when starting a book or poem, I like to know a little bit about the author him/herself. I feel it helps the students understand why the writing is written the way it is. I also could use the internet for lessonplan and project ideas.
As a teacher, teaching high schoolers doesn't concern me that much. They're well imformed about the internet and probably know more about it than i do. However, i am concern because not all websites are credible and you never know where they'll be getting their information.

Wikipedia seems like a good source to use because they have information on every topic you could ever want. However, because most pages are public, anyone and log in and add or change information. A lot of times, the information is not correct. Overall, i would not reccamend using Wikipedia to my students only because I['m always skeptical about the credibility of the information.
I think I could definitley take advantage of Wikispaces. If i created one for my class, I could include study guides, practice tests, and links to websites that would benefit them.

I will make use of the concept maps by using them when brainstorming ideas before writing a paper. Also to organize characters and various literary aspects when studying a particular story or play.
I feel like I'll be using maps all the time. I think it's very important for students or organize ideas before putting them down on paper. I know some students have trouble with that, it might be easier for them if they had some sort of sample or lay out to follow.
Inspiration is my new favorite thing. I think i'll use it all the time, especially when outlining readings and setting up directions.

I'm going to be teaching high school english, probably 11th or 12th grade. I'll definitely be incorporating computers into my lesson plans. Both grades are required to write a research paper so that's probably the biggest computer assignment we'll do. Also, little things I'll do are power point assignments, maybe where they have to look up an author or poet and make a power point including various information about his/her life.

The website complies with all the rules. It's very "user friendly." I love the colors. There's not a lot of extra fluff thats unnecessary. All the links to click on are short and to the point. It's also very well laid out.
If something that I wish to show my kids is copyrighted, I'll definitely cite it so I'm not breaking any rules. If i want to use it as my own, I'll be sure to change it significantly so it's really just an inspiration.

Most of the times I've used Microsoft word is when I'm writing papers. All of our formal essays and research papers had to be types. Occasionally we were assigned to do smaller "journal-like" assignments that were only usually one paged, typed. My teachers in high school normally made up all of the tests we took themselves so they used Microsoft word to type them. Also, study guides were typed using MS and so were all of the direction sheets.
I feel like I am definitely going to use Cute PDF because it's easier than copy & pasting all of the information from a webpage. Also, sending out emails to parents, I'll be able to add links to their children's grades and other websites. I always use the spell checking feature to make sure I don't have mistakes in my writing.
I know how to use MS, but I definitely didn't know that it could do as much as it does. When I need to create posters or handouts for my students, I'll be able to add graphics and play with colors. I'll definitely use the table feature a lot because I love making lists and comparing ideas.

I feel like since I've been in school, computers have always been a big part of the classroom. For students, research and using the internet always needed when you're learning. Most projects require some type of computer work, whether it's research or just typing labels for a poster. Obviously, all formal essays, for the most part, are typed on the computer so they look professional. It seems like computers make learning easier because students have access to so many different programs.
I'm a visual learner. I know that when I become a teacher, many of my lessons will involve power points, handouts, study guides, ect. I always loved doing projects on the computer when i was in school. I love doing web quests and things that require actual thinking and effort. Anyone can look up an answer in a book and copy it down on their paper. I'm hoping this class will teach me extensive knowledge of the programs and hopefully about new programs as well.
I want to be the type of teacher that changes the lives of his/her students. Growing up, I could tell when my teachers didn't want to be at school. I believe that you can only teach what your students are willing to learn. Walking into the classroom with exciting and innovative activities that get the students really thinking is my secret weapon. I understand what they're going through and I was to teach them material in a way that's interesting to them so they pay attention and have fun learning.
